Culinary Science will consist of students being taught best practices for safe food handling and sanitation as prescribed by the California Department of Public Health website, CDPH.ca.gov.
Students will be taught to safely use sharp tools, correct handling procedures, and will be expected to safely handle a knife. Any purposeful misbehavior, including but not limited to, any actions which could cause harm to oneself or others, will result in the student being suspended from class. Readmittance will be considered on a case by case basis. Safety in the kitchen is always first priority.
Students will be expected to take part in learning to follow recipes in which they will gain an understanding of cooking terms through practical experience. Students will be given the opportunity to learn more about nutrients and ingredients for 2 reasons. First, to help the students gain a basic understanding of a balanced diet. Second, to allow the students to begin developing their own recipes.
All classes are full year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
