Day & Time: Wednesday 11:55-1:05
Mentor: Craig Usher
Math Mayhem is a fun and fantastic dive into the world of math.
Math is everywhere; it can be used to solve problems together, explore the universe, and make discoveries. Designed to appeal to those who love numbers, those who “hate math,” and those in between, Math Mayhem is a low-stress, high-energy class full of playful opportunities to improve math skills and build confidence working with numbers.
Each class will start with a warm-up activity to get students thinking about numbers. We will play math games, work as a group to solve math challenges that may or may not save the world, discover math tricks, and create and solve math mysteries.
The material covered in the Mathematical Mayhem will include (but will certainly not be limited to): operations, positive and negative numbers, decimals/fractions/percents, measures of central tendency, and secret Algebra and Geometry problems that won’t be called “Algebra and Geometry” because there’s no need to scare anyone.
Please come to class with something to write with and something to write on.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
