Day & Time: Wednesday 12:30-1:40
Mentor: Angie Gardner aka Frizzle
This course is designed to develop and solidify basic arithmetic and algebra skills that will be required in future math courses. The course content includes operations on whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, ratios and proportions, and percents. It also includes exploring and solving one-variable linear equations and applications as well as simple algebraic concepts with geometric extensions.
Since this is a once a week course, students must work outside of class to complete their at home math curriculum. I will have an open office hour each week on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 and by appointment (details will be provided at our first class) to help students with their math work.
I love Khan Academy and encourage all my students to use this wonderful free resource.
Students should come prepared to class with pencils, paper, smartphone and/or computer (for quizzes and class trivia).
I utilize Google Classroom for all assignments, communications, online discussions, and updates. This makes it easy to refer to for homeschool teacher meetings, assignment details and due dates, and grades.
