Day & Time: Wednesday 10:45-11:55
Mentor: Jon Alston
Physics is the science concerned with the discovery and characterization of universal laws which govern matter, movement and forces, space and time, and other features of the natural world. Primarily it deals with fundamental particles of which the universe is made, along with the interactions between those particles. Through use of the scientific method, students will learn about: velocity, acceleration, gravity, Newton’s Laws of Motion, vectors, momentum, energy, heat, sound, light, electricity, magnetism and more! Students can expect to apply scientific thinking and reasoning, problem-solving, hands-on application projects and research-based/application projects.
We recommend taking the Physics lab along with this class. Once a month we’ll perform the bigger experiments that we can’t complete in class, as well as hold competitions between the students, such as mousetrap car races, rockets, Rube Goldberg devices, and other wild science activities. You won’t want to miss the excitement of seeing science come to life!
All classes are full year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
