Day & Time: Tuesday 9:00-10:10
Mentor: Ashlie Elmer
This class will lean heavily towards hands-on experiments working with chemistry (for example alka seltzer rockets, acids and bases) and physics (Newton's laws of motion) as well as life science: the study of body structures. I believe in hands-on learning and we do get messy. We will work together in small groups to cooperatively build and solve engineering problems. Technology, art and math will be interwoven in our hands-on projects. At the end of the day, when asked “what did you do in STEAM class?” you will never get the answer, "I don't know." It is my desire with each lesson plan, to create lifelong learners and scientists who can work together to solve problems. They will not have homework in my class since it is a hands-on class but they will have handouts and occasional worksheets to bring home for samples.
All classes are full year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
