Our class will be devoted to hands-on experiments working with chemistry, physics, and life science. We do get messy! We will work together in small groups to build and solve engineering problems cooperatively. Technology, art, and math will be interwoven with our projects. At the end of the day, when asked, “What did you do in STEAM class?” you will never get the answer: "I don't know."
With each lesson plan, I want to create lifelong learners and scientists who can work together to solve problems. Since it is a hands-on class, they will not have homework; however, there will be handouts and occasional worksheets to bring home for samples.
Some examples of projects we will work on: Alka seltzer rockets, acids and bases, Newton's laws of motion, building pendulums out of basic materials, studying body structures, and building towers out of toothpicks or bridges from popsicle sticks.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
