Fall Semester: STEAM
STEAM course is designed to educate students in five specific disciplines: science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. It is based on finding a solution to a real-world problem and emphasizes project-based learning. In this class, students will explore the uses of circuitry, engineer bridges and buildings, use chemical reactions to make art, and much more!
Spring Semester: Rube Goldberg Machine
Do you enjoy working as a team to solve a problem? Do you love making machines out of everyday objects? Do you love taking a simple task and trying to solve it in an indirect and overly complicated way?
This class will work in teams to create Rube Goldberg Machines. Each project will take two weeks: the first week will be spent on concept and design, and the following week students will build their machines. Each assignment will have a different goal that the team has to accomplish, and the more steps to achieve that goal, the better. We will work hard, but also have a lot of fun!
Students may want to bring in random items from home to build their machine, but all items will be returned home at the end of the class period.
This is a one-semester class. The Spring semester will be Rube Goldberg Machine by Sarah Bailey.
Students enrolled in a Fall STEAM class will automatically enroll for Spring Rube Goldberg Machine in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
