This course offers an immersive journey into music fundamentals through the delightful world of the ukulele. From contemporary hits to beloved classics, students will explore diverse musical styles, fostering technical proficiency and creative expression. While singing is encouraged, it remains optional, allowing students to engage with music in a manner comfortable to them.

 

Required Materials:

  • Three-ring binder
  • Pencil
  • Instruction book: Hal Leonard’s Ukulele Method Book 1
  • Various weekly handouts (provided by instructor)

 

Course Objectives:

  • Technical Proficiency: Develop fundamental ukulele skills, including chord formations, strumming patterns, and fingerpicking techniques.
  • Repertoire Diversity: Explore various musical genres, spanning contemporary hits and timeless classics.
  • Creative Expression: Encourage students to interpret and personalize music through improvisation and arrangement.
  • Holiday Performance Preparation: Prepare for a festive concert at the end of the semester featuring Christmas songs.
  • Community Building: Cultivate a supportive and collaborative learning environment, fostering camaraderie among classmates.

 

Note: Throughout the semester, emphasis will be placed on individual progress and enjoyment of the learning process. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in a supportive and celebratory environment, fostering a lifelong love for music and the ukulele.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
