Biology
A fun and deep dive into scientific study of life from the tiniest nanobes to humongous fungus. Students will learn about mammals, plants, insects, fish, fungi, algae and the living world surrounding us, what characteristics we share as well as what makes individual species unique, and the interdependence of living organisms. We will look at Biology everywhere from our local neighborhoods to deep in the bottom of the ocean all the way out to our search for life in outer space.
Outcomes:
Guided by student questions and scientific inquiry, students will explore the many branches of Biology and discover the interwoven connections of technology, history, arts, mathematics, and other scientific disciplines while keeping up with current scientific news and educational and occupational paths for the future. Designed to provide a real-life perspective on Life Science driven by student interests and the scientific method, Biology will bring the science of life alive.
Class Activities:
The class will include in-depth discussions, scientific simulations, and critical thinking while reinforcing the core curriculum concepts of Biology through monthly in-class worksheets.
Materials:
All materials will be provided.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
