Eureka!  California History is coming back with year 2!  You can also join this class as a first-timer as well!
 
Let's delve into parts of our history that were touched on just a bit last year. I will be asking the students which topics they are interested in as well as touching more on American Indians, Explorers, Gold Rush, Pony Express, and more. We will also be "traveling" around the state to visit monuments, national parks, state parks, historic sites, and popular and not-so-well-known areas. CA Regions will be a focus for the 1st semester. This will be the home project that will be completed during the 1st semester. This class will also learn about famous people who came from CA and their contributions to the state and elsewhere during their lives. Some days will have homework sheets sent home or classwork that needs to be finished at home. I will utilize Google Classroom which will have homework assignments and what was done in class. Please connect with our class through this method. The link will be sent at the beginning of the school year.
 
First-semester reading will be Island of the Blue Dolphin. The second-semester reading will be The Earth Dragon Awakes. Please purchase both of these books. You can also listen to them as an audiobook. There will be additional books read in class. My goal is to help my students gain a love for California and its rich history.

This class offers several homework items to show and turn into HST's if needed. Students will be introduced to many California sites that will spark interest in them and perhaps get their families to visit. This class will have a TA, Braden (10th grade) to assist with the learning as well. Come join us on this adventure!
 
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
