Constitution Club Jr.
Constitution Club Jr. is an engaging, student-centered enrichment course designed for elementary students interested in learning about American history, citizenship, and the founding principles of the United States. Through age-appropriate study of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and important American symbols and traditions, students will explore the basics of government and civic responsibility in a fun, interactive environment. The course encourages curiosity, teamwork, discussion, and leadership while helping students build a strong foundation in civic understanding and patriotic literacy.
Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will:
identify the basic purposes of rules, laws, and government
recognize important American founding documents, symbols, and historical figures
understand age-appropriate constitutional principles such as freedom, rights, and responsibility
develop teamwork, leadership, and respectful communication skills
build confidence in speaking, discussion, and presentation activities
participate in civic learning opportunities such as essay contests and Constitution Bowl competitions
strengthen reading, writing, and critical thinking skills connected to California elementary history-social science standards
demonstrate good citizenship through participation and community-minded activities
Activities:
Students will participate in interactive lessons, games, discussions, creative projects, patriotic activities, and hands-on learning experiences related to American history and government. Constitution Club Jr. will include opportunities for students to participate in essay and Constitution Bowl competitions. Activities are designed to encourage participation, collaboration, and enthusiasm for learning in a supportive and enjoyable environment. Students may also engage in simple service projects and leadership opportunities connected to civic responsibility. Meetings are held twice per month, with occasional additional sessions for competitions or special events.
Materials:
Students should bring a notebook or journal dedicated to note-taking, writing utensils, and a laptop or other internet-capable device. All instructional materials and resources will be supplied by the instructor. Materials may include age-appropriate primary-source excerpts, historical readings, games, multimedia resources, worksheets, art materials, and competition-preparation resources aligned with California elementary history-social science standards.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
