Dual Enrollment / College Support
Dual Enrollment / College Support Club is designed to help high school students successfully navigate the expectations and responsibilities of college coursework, particularly for students participating in Sierra College dual enrollment classes. The class provides a structured and supportive environment where students can build confidence, strengthen academic habits, and develop the organizational skills needed for college success. While students complete their college coursework independently, the class fosters a collaborative support network in which students encourage one another, share study strategies, discuss challenges, and stay accountable to academic goals. Students also gain exposure to college expectations, communication practices, and time-management strategies that help ease the transition to future in-person college experiences and independent learning environments.
Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will:
develop effective organization and time-management skills for college coursework
build confidence in navigating college expectations and academic responsibilities
strengthen study habits, note-taking skills, and independent learning strategies
practice self-advocacy and professional communication skills
learn to balance high school responsibilities with college-level coursework
participate in a supportive academic community that promotes accountability and encouragement
monitor academic progress and create strategies for meeting deadlines and goals
develop collaboration and peer-support skills through shared academic experiences
increase readiness for future college coursework and in-person college participation
Activities:
Students will participate in guided academic check-ins, collaborative study sessions, goal-setting activities, progress monitoring, and peer support discussions focused on college success strategies. Class time may include organizing coursework and schedules, reviewing upcoming assignments and deadlines, discussing study methods, troubleshooting academic challenges, practicing communication with college instructors, and reflecting on academic progress. Students will also engage in conversations about college expectations, campus culture, and long-term academic planning, while encouraging and supporting one another throughout their dual-enrollment experience.
Materials:
Students are expected to bring materials related to their college coursework, including laptops or devices when required, notebooks, planners, writing utensils, textbooks, and course-specific assignments.
