Animals & the Natural World Around Us

In this class we are going to have so much fun exploring the world of Animals and other cool living things! We will learn about new animals that perhaps we have never heard of before, as well as those we think we know very well, but can discover so much more about! What makes each of them so fascinating and what do they need to thrive? We will explore the habitats they live in and how they adapt to their various environments.

From time to time, we will have live animal visitors in class, such as Steve and Coral the parakeets, or Banjo the "dwarf" rabbit, in contrast to Peach, who is a very sweet flemish "giant" rabbit.

Did you know a rabbit could be so big? What do rabbits eat in the wild and how is that different from what they might eat as a pet? Why are the top greens on a carrot better for a rabbit to eat?

I love to see my students practicing curiosity. There is so much to learn from the habit of looking closer at things we are around each day, that perhaps we have not taken much note of before.

Bringing in various living animals is a fun and engaging way to learn, and foster more creative questions!

This class will enjoy fun projects and opportunities to present what we are learning about.

I LOVE assigning creative projects to my students of all ages, to present in class. Even my most shy or unsure students end up discovering a confidence they didn't know they had, and end up having such a great time! Watching them overcome any fear of presenting that they might have, in an uplifting and encouraging class setting, and seeing the beaming and proud looks on their faces completing these assignments, brings me so much joy!

I will never force a student to do something that they are not ready to do. Instead I love to find ways to motivate them and support them in this often new process, because I am always so blown away at the growth that comes from doing so.

I look forward to meeting you!
