Biology

This course is a deep exploration of the scientific study of life, from microscopic organisms to complex ecosystems. Students will study mammals, plants, insects, fish, fungi, algae, and other living systems while learning about shared characteristics, species diversity, and the interdependence of life. Biology will be explored at multiple scales, from local environments to deep ocean ecosystems and the broader search for life in the universe.

Instruction is guided by student inquiry and scientific thinking, with exploration of major biological concepts and connections to other disciplines including technology, history, math, and the arts. Students will also engage with current scientific developments and learn about educational and career pathways in science-related fields.

Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will develop a strong foundational understanding of biology and scientific reasoning skills. Students will learn to ask questions, analyze biological systems, and apply the scientific method. They are expected to participate in discussions, engage in critical thinking, and complete assignments that reinforce core biology concepts.

Class Activities:
In-depth discussions, scientific simulations, critical thinking activities, and monthly in-class worksheets aligned with biology curriculum concepts.

Materials:
All materials will be provided.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
