Plan Your Future with Purpose!
This course helps students explore future college and career pathways while building essential life skills for success after high school. Students will examine their interests, strengths, personality traits, and values as they relate to potential careers and educational options.
The class includes career exploration, college and trade school research, and hands-on practice with real-world skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, communication, organization, and basic financial literacy. Students will also learn about different post-secondary pathways, including college, community college, trade schools, and apprenticeships.
Outcomes:
Students will develop a clearer understanding of their personal strengths and potential career interests. They will gain practical skills needed for future success, including communication, organization, and professional presentation. Students will leave the course with a basic career and education plan, a draft resume, and increased confidence in making informed decisions about their future.
Class Activities:
Personality and strengths assessments
Career exploration research projects
College and training pathway comparisons
Resume writing and mock interview practice
Financial literacy and real-world scenario activities
Final “Future Blueprint” portfolio and presentation
Materials:
Materials will be provided. Occasional printed materials or online research may be required for projects. It would be beneficial but not required to bring a laptop to every class.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
