Creative Art
This class is a hands-on, exploratory art experience where students will paint, draw, cut, glue, and create using a wide variety of materials and techniques. Students will experiment with watercolors, colored pencils, and recycled materials while learning about basic art concepts, different art styles, and inspiring artists. Each week focuses on creative exploration, self-expression, and trying new artistic approaches in a relaxed studio environment.
This class is led by student teacher Lydia Hightower, a thoughtful and experienced young artist who brings a love of creativity and mentoring into the classroom. She has experience with commissioned work, including a mural for a local coffee roaster, and has worked with students in private art instruction. Her teaching style emphasizes encouragement, creativity, and helping students enjoy the process of making art.
Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will develop confidence in their artistic abilities, explore a variety of media and techniques, and strengthen their creativity and self-expression. Students are expected to participate actively, take creative risks, and focus on the process of art-making rather than perfection.
Class Activities:
Weekly art projects using mixed media, painting, drawing, collage, and creative exploration activities inspired by artists and different art styles.
Materials:
Students will need a watercolor pad (as linked for the class) and a watercolor paint kit to be kept in class. All other materials will be provided.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
