Economics
Marginal Revolution University (MRU) was founded by award-winning economists and instructors to give everyone, everywhere, a world-class economic education. Using their High School Economics curriculum, as well as highly interactive class activities, our course will help your student master economic concepts such as supply, demand, opportunity costs, scarcity, productivity, GDP, and the Money Supply. This class has no required homework, but students will always be encouraged to apply economic principles in their personal and daily financial decisions. There will, however, be multiple in-class worksheet activities to reinforce key concepts and confirm student learning.
Outcomes:
This class is designed to help students master economic concepts and skills, recognize real-world applications, and foster a positive attitude toward learning economics.
Class Activities:
Work will include PowerPoint presentations from MRU, as well as individual, small group, and class activities. No homework will be assigned, and in-class work will not be graded by Ms. Jennifer. However, completed work samples will be sent home at least once per month to highlight concepts that have been covered.
Materials:
Not required, but recommended to bring a lined notebook and a pencil or pen you are comfortable using.
US Government Enrollment Information:
Students are strongly encouraged to also enroll in the Thursday US Government course. Together, the US Government and Economics fulfill the California high school graduation requirements for civics/government and economics instruction as outlined in the California History–Social Science Framework and state graduation standards.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
