History in Action

This interactive class brings U.S. history to life through hands-on activities, storytelling, and creative projects. Students will explore key time periods, including early Native American cultures, colonization, the American Revolution, the founding of the United States, westward expansion, the Civil War, and major events in modern history.

Each lesson is designed to help students understand history through building, creating, and experiencing it. Activities may include simulations, simple builds, art projects, journaling, and group work. Students will also learn how to read timelines, understand cause and effect, and connect past events to the present.

Outcomes:
Students will develop a foundational understanding of U.S. history, improve their ability to follow timelines, and recognize important people and events. They will build critical thinking skills, participate in group activities, and gain confidence in sharing ideas. Students will also practice responsibility by completing projects and engaging in class discussions.

Class Activities:

  • Hands-on projects and builds related to historical time periods

  • Simulations and reenactments

  • Art projects and creative activities

  • Simple writing assignments such as journal entries or letters

  • Final project and presentation

Materials:
Most materials will be provided. Students should bring a notebook or journal and a pencil. Students may occasionally be asked to bring simple items for specific projects.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
