Intro to Biology

This course provides a deeper study of life science, exploring organisms from microscopic life forms to complex ecosystems. Students will study mammals, plants, insects, fish, fungi, algae, and other living systems while learning about shared characteristics, species diversity, and the interdependence of life. Topics will include biology in everyday environments, from local ecosystems to deep ocean habitats and the search for life beyond Earth.

Instruction is guided by student questions and scientific inquiry, with exploration of major branches of biology and connections to technology, history, math, and other sciences. Students will also be introduced to current scientific developments and future educational and career pathways in the sciences.

Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will develop a stronger understanding of biological systems and scientific thinking skills. Students will learn to ask questions, analyze information, and apply the scientific method to real-world topics. They are expected to participate in discussions, engage in critical thinking activities, and complete classwork that reinforces core biology concepts.

Class Activities:
Class discussions, scientific simulations, critical thinking activities, and monthly in-class worksheets aligned with core biology concepts.

Materials:
All materials will be provided.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
