Let’s Sing!
This class explores the voice as an instrument through vocal warm-ups, technique exercises, and group singing. Students will learn proper vocal habits, basic music theory, and performance skills while singing a variety of songs ranging from classic pieces to modern music from film and popular culture. The class will also explore the differences between solo and group singing, with opportunities to practice both.
Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will develop stronger vocal technique, improved pitch and rhythm accuracy, and increased confidence performing in front of others. Students are expected to participate actively, practice at home regularly, and work collaboratively as part of a choir ensemble.
Class Activities:
Vocal warm-ups, group rehearsals, singing performances, music theory activities, memorization, and occasional at-home practice assignments.
Materials:
Students will need a three-ring binder for sheet music. Music will be provided weekly in hard copy and made available digitally. Students are responsible for bringing their binder each week and replacing any lost music by printing it from the digital copy or notifying the teacher in advance.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
