This hands-on class introduces students to a variety of materials and creative building techniques through fun, guided projects. Students will work with wood, fabric, leather, and mixed media to create items such as simple builds, sewn projects, art pieces, and personalized crafts. Skills include measuring, cutting, assembling, decorating, and following step-by-step directions. Students will also practice basic design by planning and customizing their projects.
Outcomes:
Students will build confidence in creating with their hands, follow directions to complete projects, and develop creativity and problem-solving skills. They will learn to take care of materials, work responsibly, and take pride in completing their work.
Class Activities:
Simple building projects (birdhouses, boxes, or wooden crafts)
Sewing or textile projects (felt, fleece, or beginner stitching)
Leather crafts (bookmarks, bracelets or keychains)
Art and mixed media projects (painting, clay, collage)
Fun maker challenges and a final showcase project
Materials:
Materials will be provided. Students should wear clothes that can get messy. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
