Sewing
This class introduces students to sewing as both a practical life skill and a creative outlet. Instruction is differentiated for beginners and returning students. First-year students will learn the basics of sewing, including how to use a sewing machine and foundational hand-sewing techniques. Returning students will continue developing their skills by working with patterns and completing more advanced sewing projects.
Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently use basic sewing tools, complete simple sewing projects, and demonstrate growing independence with fabric work. Returning students will strengthen their technical skills, improve accuracy, and gain experience following patterns. Students are expected to participate actively, follow instructions carefully, and complete projects with care.
Class Activities:
Hands-on sewing projects, machine practice, hand-stitching exercises, and pattern-based projects for returning students.
Materials:
All materials will be provided for use in class. Students are welcome to bring their own sewing machine if they have one, but it is not required.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
