Statistics and Data Analysis

Statistics and Data Analysis provides the opportunity for students to play around with numbers and data and make discoveries about their world. Whether figuring out how likely something will happen or analyzing information to learn what has happened, they allow students to apply math to everyday life.

This class will take a playful approach to modern math exploring the way numbers show up in real life and the different ways we can learn from them while teaching concepts in Statistics and Data Analysis that will be needed for more advanced math classes in the future.

Exploring topics like weather and the economy; sports and entertainment; population and current events and so much more, students will build an understanding of how numbers and math can tell a story about our world. Student interest will help determine additional topics that we will use to cover core high school Statistics standards as we work together to design problems and find solutions.

This class has no required homework. Students will always be encouraged to research topics on their own and share their discoveries with each other. We will work together on in-class worksheet activities to reinforce key concepts and confirm student learning.

No additional materials are required, although calculators and notebooks will be quite useful.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
