Math Essentials

This course is a foundational mathematics course designed to strengthen and reinforce key math concepts for students. This course focuses on building confidence, improving problem-solving skills, and developing mathematical fluency through guided instruction, practice, and real-world applications.

The course is designed to support learners at varying skill levels by reviewing essential concepts while preparing students for success with higher-level mathematics. Emphasis is placed on mathematical communication, accuracy, and applying strategies to solve multi-step problems.

Outcomes:

In this class we will be focusing on the essential math skills students need to be ready for Algebra, and have some fun while learning them. Through discussions and hands-on activities, we will work on fractions, decimals, equations, polynomials, geometry, graphs, word problems, and so much more! I will be incorporating games, algebra tiles, STEAM activities, and logic puzzles into the class to make the math concepts more engaging.

Class Activities:

In class the students will be creating a math journal that will contain the math skills covered each week. Occasionally practice worksheets and online resources may be sent home to reinforce the skills covered in class. Although this class will not replace your homeschool math curriculum, the students should gain a better understanding of the math concepts so they can be more successful in math and even enjoy it.

Materials:

Please bring a pencil, dry erase marker, highlighter, folder, colored pencils, and math journal to class every day.

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
