As a musician for over 30 years, my favorite part about playing an instrument is when you write your very own song. That is exactly what this class hopes to achieve for all the students!
We will study various genres and time periods of music to see how music has been composed over the centuries, and what it means for us as music creators now.
The majority of our class will be hand-on work studying and writing music.
Topics will include:
- genre
- music theory
- arranging
- musical notation
- music through history
Students can expect the following in-class projects:
- writing a monthly song
- presentations
- song analysis
- playing an instrument in class
No previous musical experience is needed, but is always a plus!
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
