Once Upon A Classroom: Creative Writing

This class introduces students to the basics of storytelling, in a structured and supportive environment. We will focus on characters, setting, and simple story structure (beginning, middle, and end). Each class includes a gentle overview of a certain direction for the day, guided discussions, and creative activities such as drawing and writing. Students will also have opportunities to share their ideas with the group.

Outcomes:

  • identify basic story elements
  • organize ideas into simple stories
  • build confidence in expressing ideas through drawing and writing
  • practice listening, sharing, and participating appropriately
  • share their work in a supportive setting

Class Activities:

  • short read-alouds
  • drawing and writing activities
  • guided creative prompts
  • group storytelling and sharing
  • short, structured story projects

Materials:

  • a writing notebook or journal
  • pencils and erasers
  • crayons or colored pencils (optional)

All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
