Once Upon a Classroom: Creative Writing

 

This class will help students develop more advanced storytelling skills, with an emphasis on structure and detail. Students will work on plot development, descriptive language, and dialogue while, all while practicing planning, drafting, and revising their work. Students will also have opportunities to share and reflect on their writing.

 

Outcomes:

  • write structured and developed short stories
  • use descriptive details and basic dialogue effectively
  • practice planning, drafting, and revising writing
  • demonstrate independence and responsibility in completing work
  • participate in sharing and giving respectful feedback

 

Class Activities:

  • Writing prompts and longer story assignments
  • Story planning and outlining
  • Drafting and revising activities
  • Group discussion and peer sharing
  • Occasional extended writing projects

 

Materials:

  • a writing notebook or journal
  • pencils and pens
  • highlighters or colored pens (for editing)


All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
