Shakespeare for Kids
In this English-Drama-History mashup class, kids will get to learn why Shakespeare matters today through hands-on activities!
Outcomes:
Students will learn about who Shakespeare was, as well as historical context from the time. They will learn what it would be like to live in Shakespeare’s day, and will have the opportunity to act out scenes for themselves! We will also be diving into the language and structure of his works, and learn how to analyze and interpret pieces of literature that seem daunting. By looking at his plays, sonnets, and more, this class will seek to educate and inspire the next generation of scholars and performers alike!
Class Activities:
This class will require some minimal at-home work, including occasional reading and memorization assignments. These will be provided as a handout in class, and will also be made available digitally.
Materials:
The only thing students need to have with them is a notebook, pencil, and highlighter. Anything else will be made available in class.
Hope to see you there!
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for the Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
