Students in the Yearbook class, aka: Yearbook Squad, are the leaders and decision-makers of the yearbook staff at Love of Learning. This is a completely student driven class with guidance and support from me.
Students will learn basic principles of yearbook production, develop skills which include: writing copy, captions and headlines, digital photography, desktop publishing and using appropriate technology tools for media production. The following list is a sampling of what students will do in this class:
- Develop a theme
- Design cover
- Create master designs
- Create a workable ladder
- Set up type specs and graphic elements
- Determine story ideas
- Determine photo ideas
- Set up story and photo assignments
- Organize sale and distribution of book
- Advertise and promote
- Establish and meet publication deadlines
- Edit pages
Students are required to bring a laptop, ipad, or tablet to each class.
I utilize Google Classroom for all assignments, communications, online discussions, and updates so students will need a personal gmail account. This makes it easy to refer to for homeschool teacher meetings, assignment details and due dates, and grades.
