Students in the Yearbook class, aka The Yearbook Squad, are the leaders and decision-makers of the yearbook staff at Love of Learning. This is an entirely student-driven class with guidance and support provided by me.
Students will learn basic principles of yearbook production and develop skills which include: writing copy, captions and headlines, digital photography, desktop publishing, and using appropriate technology tools for media production. The following list is a sample of what the yearbook project includes:
Develop a theme
Design cover
Create master designs
Create a workable ladder
Set up type specs and graphic elements
Determine story ideas
Determine photo ideas
Set up story and photo assignments
Organize sale and distribution of the book
Advertise and promote
Establish and meet publication deadlines
Edit pages
Students will also design a logo for the 2022/2023 Yearbook Squad. The top design will be printed on shirts/sweatshirts and buttons for students on the yearbook squad.
Students are REQUIRED to bring a laptop to each class.
I utilize Google Classroom for all assignments, communications, online discussions, and updates, so students need a personal Gmail account. This makes it easy to refer to for homeschool teacher meetings, assignment details, due dates, and grades.
All classes are full-year classes. Students enrolled in a Fall Semester class will automatically enroll for Spring Semester in December to ensure their place in the class. Pricing is per semester.
